In the nine months of this fiscal year, the government of Karnali province has only implemented 25.66% of the budget. Specifically, 34.98% of the current and 19.08% of the capital budgets have been implemented.
The upcoming investment Summit scheduled to take place in Karnali on May 1-2, 2024, has become uncertain. This is due to the absence of an official from the province planning commission responsible for organizing the Summit. The recent political change in the province has left the commission without an official, leading to the uncertainty surrounding the Summit.
The goal set by the Karnali province government is to attract 1 million tourists, both domestically and internationally, to Rara as the main destination, which is facing challenges due to the deteriorating condition of roads. This issue has become a major hindrance to achieving the set target. Two years ago, the government announced this ambitious goal, but the current state of the roads is impeding progress.
