1st March 2024

• In a move to foster provincial growth, Karnali Province gears up to host a dynamic Development and Investment Summit on May 1st and 2nd, 2024.
• As Karnali Province commemorates six years since the establishment of its provincial Assembly, attention turns to its legislative achievements. With the primary mandate of lawmaking, the Assembly has seen 57 laws enacted over this period. The first term saw 53 laws passed across five years, while the initial year of the second term saw four more bills enacted.

Concerns arise as the Karnali Provincial Assembly has remained inactive since last September, with scheduled meetings repeatedly postponed. The prolonged hiatus has effectively halted legislative proceedings, presenting a significant obstacle to enacting crucial laws. The absence of Assembly activity underscores the urgent need for renewed engagement and proactive measures to reignite the legislative process, essential for driving the province’s development agenda forward.
