Birendranagar Municipality, the capital of Karnali Province, has experienced rapid urbanization in recent years. Historically, the city was developed in a planned manner and has emerged as a prominent urban center due to its geographic beauty, status as an educational hub, rich religious and cultural heritage, and administrative significance. However, the growing population and increasing settlement pressure have created challenges for sustainable urban management, particularly in infrastructure development, urban expansion, and addressing emerging social issues.
This study identifies and analyzes the city’s strengths, the hopes and aspirations of its residents, and key public concerns.
