Birendranagar, Surkhet – March 15, 2024: Youth in Policy and Governance (YPG) Fellows hosted a panel discussion on “Meaningful Participation of Youths in Policy Making: Practices and Way Forward.” YPG Fellows has organized the program In collaboration with the Hriti Foundation and Pokhara Research Centre with the support of the US Embassy Nepal.
Over 50 passionate young minds from Karnali Province gathered for this insightful event. The esteemed panel comprised Hon. Tekraj Pachhai and Hon. Milan Khadka, both Members of the Karnali Provincial Assembly. Moderated by YPG Fellow Ekta Devkota, the discussion explored practical avenues for youth to engage meaningfully in shaping Karnali’s future through policymaking.
Panellists expressed their unwavering commitment to amplifying youth voices in the Karnali Provincial Assembly. They emphasized the importance of active youth participation in policy discussions and decision-making processes. This collaborative approach, they believe, holds the key to crafting policies that cater to the specific needs and aspirations of Karnali’s youth.
YPG Fellow Ojashhwi Poudel further enriched the dialogue by presenting her research findings on the meaningful participation of youth, women, and marginalized communities in Karnali’s recent elections. This presentation underscored these demographics’ critical role in a functional and inclusive democracy.
