Call for Applications to Consultant to Finance Officer

Terms of Reference

Hriti Foundation, is Karnali based organization on public policy, economic governance and federalism. To effectively manage and coordinate the activities of Hriti Foundation, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Officer (Consultant) to join our team.

Objective:

The primary objective of this consultancy is to ensure documentation and management of financial resources. The Finance Documentation Consultant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.

Scope of Work:

The Finance Officer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement financial procedures and systems for the research initiatives, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to financial best practices.
  2. Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and budget allocations, by established accounting standards and organizational policies.
  3. Prepare regular financial reports and provide timely and accurate information to project stakeholders.
  4. Assist in the development of project budgets, including cost estimation, budget monitoring, and variance analysis, to ensure efficient utilization of financial resources.
  5. Coordinate with project partners, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely payment processing and accurate documentation of financial transactions.
  6. Conduct periodic financial audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, identify areas for improvement, and mitigate financial risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate for the Finance Officer position should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in financial management and documentation
  3. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements, with the ability to apply them effectively in practical settings.
  4. Proficiency in financial management software and tools, such as FinMan
  5. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with complex financial data to extract meaningful insights and trends.
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Familiarity with donor-funded projects, grant management processes, and financial regulations governing non-profit organizations would be an advantage.
  8. Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali, with the ability to prepare clear and concise financial reports and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.

Duration and Remuneration:

The consultancy contract for the Finance Officer will be for an initial period of 5 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and the prevailing market rates for similar positions in Nepal.
