Karnali Utsav Kuda Karnalika, organized by the Hriti Foundation, has been continuing as a campaign to recognize and promote Karnali province and as an event organizing discourses of regional, national and international significance. The festival is organized in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali . The fifth edition of Karnali Utsav Kuda Karnalika was successfully held from February 17 to 19, 2024. We offer heartfelt gratitude to the Hriti Foundation team, organizers, volunteers, speakers, hosts, guests, and participants for their direct and indirect support in planning and executing the event.
Karnali Utsav is an uninterrupted journey dedicated to fostering policy discourse. This journey will continue indefinitely. The sixth edition of Karnali Utsav is scheduled for 2025.
In addition to policy discussions, literary and cultural evenings and keynote speeches will be part of the preparations for this upcoming Karnali Utsav, which aims to construct an open, democratic, and prosperous society.

The program held from February 17 to 19, 2024, at Bulbule Udhyan in Birendranagar, Surkhet, the festival featured a rich array of activities from 11 am to 7 pm daily. With 14 dialogue sessions, 3 Paikelos’ Story sessions, and 4 keynote speeches, attendees were treated to thought-provoking discussions on regional, national, and international issues. 83 speakers and moderators contributed to these sessions, ensuring diverse perspectives and expertise.
Additionally, the festival celebrated the cultural heritage of the Karnali region with 3 literary and cultural sessions, including cultural performances, Deuda, and Gazal recitations. The event’s reach extended beyond the physical venue, with live broadcasts on Karnali Utsav’s Facebook and YouTube channels, Setopati and CIN’s Facebook pages, and over 100 community FM radios and other media platforms nationwide. The estimated virtual attendance of 30 lakhs highlights the festival’s widespread impact and resonance. The physical attendance of 8 thousand underscores its significance as a gathering point for individuals passionate about fostering an open, democratic, and prosperous society in Karnali province and beyond.
