November 21 – A policy oversight program focusing on the challenges of drinking water scarcity and its Impact in Karnali Province was successfully conducted in Birendranagar. Organized by Hriti Foundation in collaboration with the Karnali Provincial Assembly Secretariat and the UNDP-PSP, the event aimed to assess policy gaps and propose sustainable solutions for water management.
The program brought together provincial lawmakers, stakeholders, journalists, and local leaders to address key issues. Provincial Assembly Members Khadga Bahadur Pokharel, Kalyani Khadka, and Janaki Singh committed to raising water issues in legislative sessions and advocating for reforms.
Stakeholders emphasized adopting water-sensitive planning, greywater recycling, and developing recharge ponds to tackle water scarcity. They also highlighted the need for better resource mapping, enforcement of water management laws, and integration of sustainability goals into urban policies.
The policy oversight concluded with a call for collaborative efforts to mitigate water scarcity and ensure sustainable access for all communities in Karnali.
