Hriti Foundation Introduces YPG Fellowship to Karnali Provincial Assembly Members

On October 2, 2024, Hriti Foundation organized an introductory meeting with the Honorable members of the Karnali Provincial Assembly to discuss the Youth in Policy and Governance (YPG) Fellowship. The meeting brought together key figures from the province, including ministers, chairpersons of parliamentary committees, chief whips of political parties, and other esteemed members of parliament, to deliberate on the fellowship’s goals and their role in ensuring its success.

The session began with Dinesh Gautam, Executive Director of Hriti Foundation, providing an overview of the Foundation’s work as a policy think tank in Karnali Province and the rationale behind implementing the YPG Fellowship in Karnali province. He emphasized the importance of the program in building the capacity of youths to engage in governance and public policy.

Following the introduction, Kamal Raj Lamsal, Chairperson of Hriti Foundation, moderated a discussion. The attending MPs expressed strong support for the initiative, committing to actively participate in the fellowship and recognizing its value for enhancing the capacity of the provincial assembly members. They highlighted the need for such initiatives in Karnali, praising the program for its focus on youth engagement in governance and policy.

The Youth in Policy and Governance (YPG) Fellowship is a year-long program, organized by Hriti Foundation with support from the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, in collaboration with the Karnali Provincial Assembly and Purak Asia. This fellowship aims to empower young leaders in Karnali by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the public policy sphere effectively.
